Pan American Silver Corp. is looking for a Tax Manager to join its team in Vancouver.  This role will report to the Senior Tax Manager. Along with the other members of the Tax Team, the Tax Manager will have responsibility for completion of tax provision information for financial statement reporting purposes, and compliance reporting mainly with tax authorities. This will include communication and co-ordination of numerous tax issues with foreign subsidiary tax personnel and external consultants. The Tax Manager will also be primarily responsible for providing oversight to junior staff.


Major Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and yearly consolidated tax provisions, financial statement note disclosures, as well as supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and/or review responses to requests from external financial statement auditors.
  • Manage the preparation of Canadian income tax returns, including T106 and T1134
  • Manage the preparation of various other compliance filings, including but not limited to Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), Global Minimum Tax, and Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reporting.
  • Review various other compliance filings, including but not limited to GST/HST, T5, NR4, and US Form 1099.
  • Prepare responses to Canadian and foreign tax authority queries, as well as, liaise with the tax authorities related to their audit/review requests.
  • Manage the tax team’s compliance with key internal controls related to tax provision and compliance activities.
  • Manage requests from both the internal audit team and external service providers related to SOX and internal controls testing.
  • Assist with calculations to support the intercompany billing process and the preparation of contemporaneous documentation for transfer pricing purposes.
  • Actively participate in the completion of tax implications related to capitalizations to or distributions from subsidiaries, including tracking of withholding tax obligations, and contemporaneous updates to ACB and/or surplus calculations.
  • Support the preparation of the budget for global tax payments, and the tracking of budget to actual payments.
  • Provide support and/or additional tax information or calculations to the finance and accounting teams to help with additional financial statement disclosures and other external reporting as required.
  • Provide recommendations to minimize the Company’s overall tax burden.
  • Assist as needed with corporate tax restructuring, and other tax projects.

Qualifications

  • A CPA designation
  • Completion of the CPA In-depth Tax Course
  • At least five years’ experience, preferably in a public or industry tax practice environment
  • Strong tax accounting skills, preferably within a public accounting firm handling the provision calculations for large multinational clients or within a multinational corporation preparing the tax provision.
  • Self-starter in identifying and managing multiple tasks with varying priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). 
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • International travel may be required.

Salary range: 

$105,000- $130,000, plus competitive benefits package
