At Pan American Silver, respect for human rights has guided our relationships with our COIs, especially local communities, throughout our history of operating in the Americas. The work we do affects people and ecosystems in the areas of influence surrounding our operations. We take steps to understand the linkages between the impacts of our activities and human rights, progressively implement proper measures to respect human rights, and conduct ongoing due diligence. This allows us to identify, avoid, mitigate, and account for actual or potential negative risks and/or impacts.
Our focus is on upholding human rights, building a positive human rights culture, respecting the traditions and cultures of local communities, and our workers, and supporting vulnerable groups. Our Global Human Rights Policy sets out our commitment to respect human rights and is intended to provide guidance on the standards of conduct that must be followed by our directors, officers, and employees. The policy applies to any third parties acting on behalf of or representing Pan American Silver.
