We are looking to hire a Lead Engineer, Capital Projects to join our Timmins Operations team in Timmins, ON. to play a key role in the Bell Creek Shaft expansion project on a full-time basis.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.
Compensation: This position offers a base salary range of $140,000- $180,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.
Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.
The Lead Engineer, Capital Projects will be responsible for supporting the implementation of capital projects during their design phase, build phase and up to and including their close-out phase and operational readiness. You will regularly produce accurate and timely reporting on project phases, milestones, and present project updates. You will ensure work standards/requirements are met or exceeded, while complying with all applicable laws, rules, policies, and government regulations within the project scope. Regular update presentations to the senior management group as well as corporate personnel are required, therefore excellent communication methods are a necessary skillset. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Lead Engineer, Capital Projects will have the following responsibilities:
Act as the liaison between the Mechanical/Structural/Electrical Engineering consultants to the execution team
Helping to execute the operational plan for completing the project
Ensure QAQC is performed on all new installations
Produce project schedule and update as needed using project planning software
Assist with the development, optimization and implementation of project plans to ensure budget, schedule and overall project objectives are achieved in a safe and economic manner
Supervise other engineering staff
Ensure all layouts, prints and drawings are accurately produced and delivered on time for the project demands
Monitor progress and report progress performance against the project plan
Measure Earned Value of the project
Facilitate daily and weekly planning meetings, with key personnel including contractors, to coordinate activities in order to review performance against targets and ensure project objectives at met
Monitor compliance and ensure adherence to applicable engineering codes, regulations, safety and environmental practices, performance standards and specifications.
Troubleshoot problems that arise; analyze and recommend solutions so that project work can proceed according to plan
In consultation with the project team, evaluate alternative optimized methods for execution of project work, detailing the costs, benefits and issues with each approach and make recommendations to the team
Assist and coordinate special projects that arise within the planning and projects teams.
Lead and coordinate Projects work with Mine Operations and Contractors, which includes the management of the planning, scheduling, and budgeting for each project
More About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
Licensed professional Engineer (or have the technical equivalency)
Licensed professional Engineer (or have the technical equivalency)
5 years experience in underground mining
Over 10 years experience in engineering and/or projects
Project experience in mining projects
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
Knowledge of tendering/procurement practices
Strong leadership skills
Experience leading an engineering team
Demonstrated capabilities to drive projects forward
Proven abilities to understand critical timelines
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong skills using project planning software such as MS Project, Primavera, Excel, Deswik
