We are looking to hire a Senior Project Resource Geologist to join our Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis.  The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.

Please note that this is not a camp-based position.


Job Responsibilities

In this position, you will have the overall responsibility to complete geological models and mineral resource estimations on assigned projects. 

Reporting to the Chief Resource Geologist, the Senior Project Resource Geologist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Review data/databases for errors and monitor QA/QC programs as required
  • Monthly reconciliation processes with Engineering.
  • Complete required 3D interpretation of geology, structural, and mineralization models to support local grade block model work.
  • Produce statistical analysis and validation block model estimations
  • Act as sub-QP for work.
  • Complete the required documentation for local grade estimations.
  • Communicate changes in resource estimates to peers.
  • Peer review other sites/projects.
  • Train other geologists with best practices in modeling and estimation, management and other departments as required.
  • Recommend and update/changes to resource modeling processes to improve quality and efficiency.

More About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • University degree in Geoscience with current membership in the APGO – Professional Geologist (PGeo)
  • 5 years’ experience in gold exploration or gold mine environment
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software (Leapfrog, Datamine, Deswik)
  • Knowledge of Statistics and Variography
  • Be committed to safety

The Bell Creek Complex, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods.  Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.
