We are looking to hire a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis.  The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.

Compensation: This position offers a salary range of $110,000 – $130,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

Vacancy Status: This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.

The Health and Safety Coordinator reports to the Mine Manager while working closely with the Health and Safety Superintendent and site H&S team. The Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the health and safety policies, procedures, and training, both on surface and underground, including site contractors. You will establish, implement, and ensure compliance to all site and regulated safety standards. You will be expected to assist with supervision to ensure all workers have sufficient training and applicable modules. You will oversee the development of training plans to meet the ongoing needs of the mine, and ensuring workers are trained on equipment and procedures. 

Other duties will include:

  • Ensures that safety programs are developed and in place to reduce injury exposure, minimize loss and provide a base for internal and external audits.
  • Compliance and management of standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate training programs to comply with legal and site requirements.
  • Maintain Mine Safety database, including training records, safety inspections, safety stats, assist OH with all RTW plans.
  • Act as the Mine Signing Authority for training.
  • Ensure all MOL compliance documents are completed and issued.
  • Oversee, schedule, and maintain the Volunteer Mine Rescue Program.
  • Assist with, and manage, the Bell Creek Safety Budget.
  • Order all Safety related materials, manage the gas testing equipment and their maintenance, manage the safety boot and safety eye glass program.
  • Ensures that systems are in place which will effectively monitor and report compliance to all safety/training programs.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections.
  • Develops a monthly safety program for use by all first line supervisors.
  • Provides, procures, and ensures the availability of training for all supervisory personnel in required safety and training facet of first line supervisory work.
  • Ensures a viable Joint H&S Committee is active and in accordance with OHSA standards and sits on the JHSC as a Management Co Chair.
  • Support the implementation of Critical Risk Management (CRM) and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) at site.
  • Other such duties or special projects as may be assigned.
