We are looking to hire a Drill Coordinator to join our Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, Ontario on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.


Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.


Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will assist with advanced underground drill programs at the Bell Creek Mine. The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of geology, mining methods, core logging, drill layout procedures and associated safety practices. The main function of this position would be the creation of drill layouts, and the coordination of drill programs with both the drill contractor and mining operations.  You will be required to complete formal written reports and other tasks as requested.

Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, the Drill Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Create advanced underground drill programs and layouts
  • Monitor drilling progress and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency
  • Update drill hole databases
  • Monitor project budgets and expenses
  • Complete formal written reports as requested
  • Liaise with production and engineering personnel in the mine planning functions


More About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • University degree in Geoscience required 
  • 1-5 years’ experience in a gold exploration or Gold Mine environment preferred
  • Must either be an APGO, Professional Geologist (PGeo) member or be eligible to apply for APGO or GIT membership in the Province of Ontario
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software Datamine, Deswik, and Leapfrog will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of drill layout procedures and underground safety practices
  • Practice good housekeeping
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be committed to safety
  • Basic UG Hard Rock Common Core with shaft specialty module is a must
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods.  Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.
